A Special lecture on medical negligence was organized to 42 students of III BA . criminology at School Of Social Work, Roshni Nilaya. The class aimed to provide students with a foundational understanding of the intersection between forensic science and the legal system.

Session Highlights:

  1. Rights of patient: Dr. Harish initiated the lecture by briefing the various rights of patients. Students were explained about rights like choosing their treatment and physician, privacy, confidentiality, etc.
  2. Duties of patient: The class was briefed about the duties of patients towards their physician.
  3. Negligence and its elements: Dr. Harish explained the meaning and elements of negligence consisting of duty of care, dereliction of duty, direct causation and damage.
  4. Types of negligence: Dr. Harish also emphasised the two types of negligence- civil and criminal.
  5. Other means of negligence: Dr. Harish also explained various other means of negligence like Res Ipsa Loquitur, Contributory negligence, Novus Actus Intravenous, corporate negligence.

Dr. Harish's class on medical negligence provided students with a comprehensive understanding of the intricate relationship between patients and doctors in cases of medical negligence. The session equipped students with valuable insights into the challenges and responsibilities associated with medical negligence. Overall, the lecture was well received by the students, who left with a deeper appreciation for the vital role of medical care and negligence.
