On the occasion of National Cybersecurity Month 2022, the Forensis Forum of the Post Graduate Department of Criminology and Forensic Science had organized a session for the Post Graduate students of the college on the theme ‘Cyber Security’ held on 12th October 2022 at 3pm in Maria Paiva hall.

The program began with invoking god’s blessings. The first year students of the Post Graduate Department of Criminology and Forensic Science had taken the initiative to conduct the event which consisted of four parts such as skits relevant to the theme, a session on the theme, documentary videos about cyber security and group activity. The skit highlighted about the types of Cyber Crime and its preventive measures. Further, Ms. Nashwa Iqbal delivered a session on types of cyber Crime, measures to prevent Cyber Crimes, steps to be taken by victims of Cyber Crimes, toll free number and online registration procedure. The session was kept open for the students to ask questions pertaining to the theme which was answered satisfactorily by providing more insight.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Further, documentary videos have been shown about the online purchase scam, internet safety and security for kids and lottery scam including preventive techniques. This video was helpful in creating awareness among the students regarding the scams that is happening all over the world and to be safe while using the internet.

Relevant to the theme ‘treasure hunt’ a group activity was conducted. There were 5 groups consisting of 5 members in each. Each group was given with the QR code where they had to scan to find the clue and finally the treasure. Through which students were also made to be aware of network banking crime using QR codes.

On the occasion, Prof. Evelyn Benis, Dr. Saritha D’Souza, and Dr. Rosa Nimmy Mathew, Head’s of the Department of Social Work, Criminology & Forensic Science and Counselling were present along with the faculties of the respective departments. Ms. Jinsa Joseph, Assistant Professor & Student Welfare Officer, the Post Graduate Department of Social Work of the college appreciated the efforts taken by the students of MSc Criminology and Forensic Science to conduct this informative session which is most need of the hour.

The event was conducted successfully under the guidance of faculties of the department Mr. Roshan D’Souza, Mr. Joel Joseph and Mr. Niketh P.S. Fisrt year MSc CFS students Ms. Manisha Baretto welcomed the gathering, Mr. Vishnu Prasad delivered a vote of thanks and Ms. Shresta compered the whole event successfully. The event concluded at 4.30pm with a group photograph. Altogether, 150 students and 10 faculties (160) were present during the discussion.
