Research CenterSchool of Social Work, Roshni Nilaya Research methodology and Data Management workshop Day:15th -16th March.2016 The two days of Workshop was based on the Doctoral Thesis submitted and published by “Resource Management in Human Service Organizations” The day started with a session on theoretical part of research dealing with the basics of research such as problem formulation. as the resource person came to the main topic of methodology of research, there was a good discussion on how to choose a population & study of the population. The ways to access the resources for the study were explained. Practical workshop was conducted within the session on the choice of population and the means to attend resources for a particular study. The second day of the seminar was planned for the PG and PhD scholars and 18 scholars. The whole programme was planned with practical implementation of theoretical knowledge of the scholar, regarding Data Analysis and Data management. The participants were given computer resources to work on SPSS and taught Statistical Analysis and develop tables, graphs etc. there was a short session on use of various statistical formula in a particular research The resource person gave insight about how to write the thesis or the research project with special emphasis on the students and scholars. It was to the briefed the participants by telling them what should be written in the introduction, review of literature, magnitude of the problem, analysis and interpretation, discussion, summary and suggestions and appendixes. The resource person summarised the whole session at the end. There was 15 minutes’ interaction session, were everyone was given an opportunity to clarify their doubts.
Centre for Research and Publications The College has a has established the Centre for Research and Publications with specially trained personnel on Research Methodology, Statistics and SPSS software to undertake sponsored research projects and to provide technical guidance to research scholars and to students. The institute is a recognized centre for Ph.D. Programme since1983. The Department of Research has taken up studies and successfully completed several research projects for the Government of India, State Governments, University, Industries, Banks, NGOs and Health Care Institutions. The funds received by UGC and other sources has been a great support to build the Centre for Research as knowledge factory and Skill builder. Objectives of the Centre for Research

Promotion of Research The Research Department is headed by the Director and its staff. The objective of the department is to promote research culture among the faculty and students. The department encourages the UGC faculty members to take up research projects along with Non-UGC faculty members. It also encourages Interdepartmental research as well as collaborative research in the field of social sciences. Apart from the above activities, the research department the organizes certificate course on Research Methodology and SPSS Training. In this course, the students and faculty members from different colleges are invited to take this course. Resource Mobilisation The faculty members undertaking research are given seed money by the management on request. The management encourages the faculty members to avail UGC and other funds for Research Projects. The college encourages the staff to present their project findings in National and International Conferences and seminars. Students are encouraged to take up research at their undergraduate and post-graduate departments. The research department provides guidance and support to student’s in the form of orientation in preparation of project proposals, statistical analysis. The students are encouraged to present their research finding at State, National and International Seminars. Some students research articles are published in college magazine and journals. Research based Consultancy Consultancy services is provided by the faculty based on their knowledge and expertise. College infrastructure is used for the consultancy purpose also. The different areas where the consultancy is provided are Research, Health, Child and Adolescent Mental Health, Counselling, Prevention of Sexual Harassment, Communication and Interpersonal Relationship, Corporate Social Responsibility, Psychological Tests, Stress Management, Computer Knowledge, Leadership Training Criminology and Forensic Science. The college encourages faculty for consultation services by giving permission and making adjustments in their time-table so that classes are not disturbed. The Government Departments and Non-Government Organisations, schools, colleges and industries seek consultancy from Department such as Social Work, Psychology, Criminology and Forensic Sciences, Computer Application, Rural Development, English, Kannada, and Hindi.
