The Department of Psychology organised a visit to Anirvedha- Centre for psychological well-being, Kankanady, Mangaluru on Friday,5th July 2019 from 1:30 pm to 4:30 pm. A total of 60 II BA students of Psychology visited the centre in batches during three time slots accompanied by the faculty- Associate Prof. Sandra Sunitha Lobo, Asstistant Prof. Yamini Gowda P.C. and Guest faculty Ms. Verina Joshna.

Ms Shwetha K.Y., Director of Anirvedha spoke about the thrust area of equating psychological health to physical health and removing the sympathy tag towards certain children. A 3- year- old NGO with 21 professionals  provide supportive intervention, psychological assessment and training to over 63 registered clients.

 

 

 

From the time one registers for assessment and intervention until the individual’s attainment of therapy goals were all detailed out. Students were exposed to some study materials, creatively prepared play kits and even witnessed sessions like remedial teaching, behavioural therapy, speech therapy etc.

The visit provided contextualized learning and real world experience in keeping with the vision of the College.
