On July 24, 2023, a session on drug abuse prevention was held at Ramakrishna PU College in Mangaluru as part of a drug awareness campaign organized by the department of criminology and the Mangaluru City Police. In her session, Ms. Nikitha of the III BA in Criminology spoke on the causes and effects of drug abuse. She highlighted on preventing drug abuse, saying that it takes a team effort from individuals, families, schools, healthcare professionals, communities, and policymakers to create a secure and encouraging environment for everyone. She emphasized the crucial components of prevention, which comprise education, early intervention, the creation of supportive environments, moral marketing and regulation, treatment accessibility, community involvement, and the encouragement of healthy coping mechanisms, all of which will be very beneficial in preventing abuse.
