Department of Human resources, School of Social Work, Roshni Nilaya in association with National Institute of Personnel Management (NIPM) Mangalore chapter and Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of the college organized a national level conference on the theme 'HR Transformation – The Future is now'

The conference was inaugurated by Dr. Ananth Prabhu G, professor and principal investigator, Sahyadri College of Engineering and Management and cyber law and security expert. In his inaugural address, Dr Ananth Prabhu highlighted the significant shift in human resource management culture in the wake of the COVID pandemic. He stressed the importance of adapting technological advancements and staying informed about current affairs to stand out from the crowd. According to Dr. Prabhu, reinventing HR management has become a top priority and he offered four key takeaways for the participants and they are- creating a positive workforce by maintaining a healthy work environment: both psychological and physical well-being, keeping up with digitalization and Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS) in HR practices, understanding the significance of Artificial Intelligence technology, such as Chat GPT in recruitment, employee engagement, training and development, performance management, and predictive analysis and recognizing the growth potential of auto-pilot systems currently entering the market.

Dr. Jennis Mary, Vice Principal of the college, in her presidential address, encouraged the future HR managers to envision a new work society by creating a sustainable work environment that prioritizes creative and critical thinking skills in an AI-driven world. The inaugural function concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by the Student Convenor Ms. Devika, setting the stage for a thought-provoking and inspiring conference on the future of human resource management. Other noted guests were former principal Dr. Jacintha Dsouza, Chairperson Dr. Juliet CJ, IQAC Coordinator Ms. Cecilia Farida Goveas NAAC Coordinator Dr. Sandra Sunitha Lobo, Dean of Research Dr. Meena Monteiro, Dean of Administration Dr. Kiran Prasad.

Mr. Anand James D Silva, Former Country HR manager, Hewlett Packard, Bangalore was the resource person for the first session on the topic of Employee Experience and Engagement. According to him, employee experience refers to an organization's perspective on its employees, taking into account how they perceive, hear, believe, and feel about all the aspects of their work life. The resource person also touched upon the areas, such as; meaning of employee experience and engagement, whose job is the employee engagement in the company and different types of employee engagement. On the other side, employee engagement is the emotional commitment a worker has developed with the company and its objectives. The presentation was very informative and significant. HR fest ‘Takshak’ unleash your true potential commenced where the first round was quiz competition. There were ten teams from four colleges who took active participation with much enthusiasm and energy. The second round was ‘Conceptia’ and Round three was ‘stress interview’. These two events took place under the guidance of Prof. Sushma V, Sahyadri college of engineering and management, Mangalore. She advised the participants to make efforts to improve their communication skills. The day ended with Ms. Sharanya performing a classical dance followed by solo singing by Aeron Rodrigues.

The second day of the National Level Conference began with invocation of God’s blessing. Mr. Nithin Kumar, Associate Vice President (Human Resources), Infra Market, Bengaluru was the resource person for the second session on Impactful Reward Management. In the session the resource person discussed the current organization market landscape, which included up skilling ,re skilling increasing the wage cost ,flex / hybrid ,WFO, attrition holistic life management, compensation, employee engagement, performance management, rewards and recognition, career planning, life work balance productivity affordability, market condition, and employee feedback.

Mr. Prashant Miranda was the resource person for the next session on HR owning Business Transformation. Mr Miranda is working for TRU Global Pvt Ltd Software Company, Bangalore. He spoke on Recruitment, US staffing, Sourcing and screening. He also spoke of different kinds of US visas available while working for a USA company. He explained of the day- to-day activities of a HR technical recruitment. He also spoke on an Indian Job portal, where the candidates can apply and easily get their job & also information on C2C. He Spoke about US Standard Time and also concluded by asking students to learn more about technical information.

HR fest ‘Takshak’ began in the afternoon. The 4th round was regarding the presentation of topics given to groups and the 5th round was on the grievance handling. The judge for both rounds was Dr. Pradeep

The Valedictory program began at 4.30 p.m. Mr. Santhosh Pai head human resources, BASF India limited Mangaluru and secretary NIPM Mangaluru chapter was the chief guest. Professor Evelyn Bennis, Head of the department of Msw, School of Social Work, Roshni Nilaya, presided over the function. Ms Josephina and Pearl Carolyn Louis presented the report of the two day conference. Faculty Dr. Sabastian K.V, Prof Jisna Joseph, Prof Agnelin Ebinezar, student convener Devika, Jyoshna, secretary-HR forum and others were present. Rafath Hassan welcomed the gathering, Faculty coordinator Dr Sebestian KV proposed a vote of thanks and Shraddha compared the event.
