One day Faculty Development Programme on Work Life Balance was organised by IQAC on 9th May, 2023, The session was presided over by Dr Jenis Mary, Vice Principal, School of social work.

The resource person for the forenoon session was Dr Rameela Shekhar, Director of Manashanthi. the session began by invoking the blessings of the divine by Ms. Jinsa Joseph, followed by lighting the lamp by the resource person, and all the representatives from each department.

Dr. Jenis Mary, Vice principal, School of Social Work, Roshni Nilaya gave the significance and framework for the day's FDP, she also highlighted Dr. Rameela being the right person to address the staff on the topic for the day.

Dr Rameela in her address focused on Understanding Gen Z students, understanding the impact of being Gen-Z on students behaviour, thought, emotions, attitude, and communication.

Dr Rameela introduced the work life balance session by having group discussion on the importance of work life balance, consequences of work life imbalance, factors affecting work life balance, advantage of work life balance, strategies for work life balance, organizational strategies. She continued by giving the faculty tips and advice on how to balance work life.

Dr Rameela concluded the session by saying that work life balance depends on the individual and not on the organisation. The session was concluded with vote of thanks by Dr Kiran Prasad.

The afternoon session of a one day faculty development program was on Situational Leadership. The Resource person for this session was Ms Preetam Prabhu, Facilitator Behavioural trainer and Counsellor.

Ms. Preetam began the program by an activity called Confusion where faculty members have to go around and get signatures of others. This activity helped them to understand how one needs to be a good listener, observant. Ms Preetam added that each teacher should learn to be a good listener, should have good observation and should take time to learn to know each student’s strengths and weaknesses.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The next activity Ms. Preetam conducted was on unconscious bias, where everyone had to write ten names, age, gender, education and quality of their acquaintance. The activity provides us how unconsciously we surround ourselves with people we are comfortable with and who have similar traits or characteristics like us. Ms Preetam provided the faculty on how we can break this bias and conquer this bias.

The last activity conducted was human knot, the faculties were divided into groups and they had to untangle the knot smoothly. Ms Preetam asked the faculties to learn from this activity. The session was concluded by Mrs. Veena BK proposed a vote of thanks. A total of 37 teaching and non-teaching staff participated in the faculty development program.
