Self development and skill empowerment through training and generation of socially responsible students through social involvement and to work for communal harmony and peace

Aim
Students Association at Schools and Colleges to promote self development and social welfare through awareness generation, training and service oriented strategies towards social responsibility, communal harmony and peace

Goals

  1. To promote self development of the College and school students through awareness programmes, education and training in health and life skills.
  2. To orient students to social responsibility through exposing them to various social welfare schemes and activities through training and field exposure of addressing the social issues in reality to be empowered to grow and develop as socially responsible citizens of the Nation.
  3. To promote peace and harmony in the families and communities through convergence of likeminded activities and by promoting social activism to address the sectarian and divisional forces in any form emerging in the society.
    (Objectives are formed based on each goal and activities are explained under each objective)

 

Objectives based on Goal 1 : For Self Development and Growth

1. Awareness based Education Programmes on topics;

Health and Hygiene
Healthy food habits and effective living
Positive habits
Positive thinking and positive behaviour
Positive friendship or interpersonal relationship
Healthy attitude towards others and promotion of service mindedness
Awareness on bad habits like smoking and all other substance abuse
Ill effects of conduct problems and antisocial or criminal behaviours
Positive tips on peer education and counselling
Awareness on general laws which every citizen should know
Awareness on different social legislations regarding self protection, growth and development
Awareness on how to access government schemes and benefits for self development
Awareness on education and carrier development
Awareness on relationship between self care and environment protection
Awareness on body, its potentials, energy and its effective use
Use of exercises, aerobics and other body, mind, and soul integration techniques
Good manners and character formation
Basic safety and security needs
Awareness of ill effects of mobile phone use, TV, social media like face book, Whatsapp and Internet
Awareness on effective use of all the above for academic, information, entertainment and development purposes
Positive or recommended entertainments and destructive entertainments
Awareness on all that is negative to human life or self and all that promotes and nurture self or human life

2. Training Programmes and Skill Development

Life Skills training (creative thinking, critical thinking, self esteem, empathy, Problem solving, decision making, communication, interpersonal relationship, coping with stress and coping with emotions-WHO)
Social skill and communication skill training
Assertiveness and leadership training
Emotional intelligence training
Development of organizing training
Basic living skills-cooking, house maintenance or cleaning, washing linen, development of punctuality and discipline in life
Good manners and etiquettes
Training in fire and safety to secure one’s own life
Training in first aid and life rescue
Basic technical skill training like electric and electronics, plumbing, painting, tailoring, repairing, landscaping  and gardening, art and crafts, masonry,  carpentry and so on
Training in interview skills and group dynamics
Training in family life education for college students
Training in Pranayama, NLP, TA
Training in skills in public speaking, organizing programmes
Other skill based training as per requirement
Training in memory enhancement and concentration techniques
Aptitude testing, career counselling and guidance
Training on effective learning methods
Viswa Santhi Upasana- a programme for character formation to effective positive thinking and positive style
Mind Power-removing all phobias, fears, anxieties and depression


Objectives based on Goal 2 : Social Responsibility

1. Awareness Programmes on Social Responsibility Actions

Awareness programmes on social problems-Alcoholism, smoking, substance abuse, poverty, unemployment, beggary, child abuse, women abuse, abuse of the disabled, problems of the aged, social issues related to health and illness, exploitation and depletion of natural resources
Awareness programmes on knowledge on how to behave with the aged, disabled-blind, deaf and dump, children with autism, cerebral palsy, mental retardation, terminally and chronically ill, how to care the sick and dying,
Awareness programmes on social welfare schemes of government-both central and state government schemes
Awareness programmes on various social welfare activities done by the NGOs
Awareness programmes on citizen laws and social legislation(more than 200 laws/acts including the Constitution of India)
Awareness programmes on group behaviour, behaviour in the public, methods to become a change agent in the society
Awareness on social evils like bribery, fraud and cheat consumer items, exploitation of nature, various mafia, sensitivity to various threats and crisis
Awareness on social service schemes like eye, organ, heart and other organ donations, blood donation, building houses, supply of food, clothing and need for cleaning services

Training in resource mapping, resource mobilization and effective resource utilization
Training in social action and social movements
Training in social auditing and social problem study and analysis
Pre-marriage counselling and guidance for college students
Training on dos and don’ts of friendship and interpersonal interactions
TA for effective communication
NLP for effective personality formation
Field exposure for construction activities like roads, canals, houses, bus waiting sheds etc
Cleaning activities in public places like bus stations, market, slums etc
Waste management programmes
Organic farming
Biogas and pipe composting promotion

Students national fight against red tapes and corruption

Students movements against domestic violence, dowry, child marriage, discrimination towards women, aged and the disabled
Students movements against various exploitation e.g, Auto rickshaws in Mangalore and various cities in the country- Initiate Students Auto.
Career guidance workshops and career guidance app promotion
Student counselling service through school and college counsellors
Peer coaching for the less advantaged students
Adult and aged education through college students initiative
Volunteers for poor and orphan patients and training for such care giving
Promotion of part time employment for students particularly the poor and financially vulnerable students
Social service networking of students through this association for various social causes
Student network to promote career in different sectors and self employment

 

Objectives based on Goal 3 : Communal Harmony and Peace

Positive thinking network of students for the promotion of peace
Happy Life promotion through rediscovering real happiness in life and promoting it
Self Help Groups initiated by students for the promotion of positive thinking, peace, happiness and harmony in the community
Mentoring forums in schools and colleges for positive wellbeing of the students
Mutual respect and value based interpersonal relationship building towards a harmonious community
Promotion of  e-blogs and newsletters for the promotion of peace, happiness and harmony
Training for students in welfare oriented corruption free politics and governance
Involving students in policy making and advocacy through social action
Promotion of family based peace and happiness units
Any other pertinent objectives also could be incorporated from time to time as per requirement
