Mr. Balajinarayan B., Assistant professor of the Post Graduate Department of Criminology and Forensic Science, attended a Virtual International Conference on the ‘Role of Forensics in Criminal Investigation’ organized by the Department of Forensic Science and Criminal Investigation, Legal Desire Media and Insights. It was held on the 20th of April 2020.

The term Forensics is defined as the application of scientific principles and techniques in solving crimes enforced by the police agencies in a criminal justice system. Forensic science is that piece without which the puzzle of a criminal investigation is incomplete and without its application criminals can never be convicted unless an eyewitness is present. Thus, the role of forensic science in criminal justice and the legal system is highly critical but is often underrated.

The Conference had many influential speakers and covered various topics ranging Crime Scene Investigation and Accident Investigation to Forensic Toxicology. The Speakers included Dr. Carlos A. Gutierrez, Director, True Forensic Science, USA; Dr. Rajeev Kumar, Associate Professor, Division of Forensic Science, Galgotias University; Dr. Sally Lukose, Dean Academics,
College of Trafic Mangment, Faridabad; Ms. Nada Mohammed Ali, Drug Poisons Expert, Forensic Science Laboratory, Ministry of Justice, Egypt; Adv. Pallavi Pratap, Advocate on Record, Supreme Court of India; Mr. Ravinder Chauhan, Senior Scientific Assistant, Ballistic, CFSL, CBI, New Delhi; Dr. Sachil Kumar, Assistant Professor Department of Forensic Chemistry, College of Criminal Justice, Naif Arab University for Security Sciences, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia; and Dr. Mukesh Sharma, Assistant Director Physics Division FSL, Jaipur, Rajasthan.
