School of Social Work, Roshni Nilaya in association with Parivarthan Charitable Trust and Inner Wheel Club Mangalore North organised a transgenders day programme on 12 March, 2019.

 

The Principal Ms. Juliet C J, Vice Principal Dr. Jenis Mary, founder of Parivarthan Trust Mrs Violet Pereira, Ms.Ramya Gowda, President of Parivarthan Trust and president of Inner Wheel Club Mangalore North, Ms Nina Shetty, Ms Naaz Joshi and Ms Pavitramma were the estemmed guests of the day.

 

 

 

The programme was inaugurated by releasing colourful balloons symbolising the breaking of barriers and stereotypes. 

Chief guest, Ms Naaz Joshi ( Miss World Diversity 2018, Miss Trans queen India Classic 2018 and first Indian Transsexual Model) presided over the function.

She addressed the gathering highlighting a few of her life experiences. She spoke about her journey. She felt that she won the crown because she always spoke from her heart. She said that she held not just the Indian flag but the flags of all the countries during the pageant.

 

 

 

 

She enthused the audience to pursue one’s dreams, to be educated and to never give up.

Ms Naaz Joshi and Ms Pavitramma were felicitated by the dignitaries. A wheel chair was handed over to Ms. Gangamma by Ms. Lekshmi Kumaran, chief general manager, HR, MRPL and her team.

Ms Ramya Gowda, President of Parivarthan Charitable trust gave the presidential address.

 

 

 

Nashma Khatija of second BA delivered the vote of thanks.

With great enthusiasm, cultural performances were put up by the transgenders and the students of School of Social Work, Roshni Nilaya.
