An awareness programme on the Code of Conduct for the students and parents of II BA/BSW as well as III BA/BSW was organized on Monday, August 22, 2022 in the College Auditorium for the new academic year 2022- 2023. The programme began at 9:30 am and was compered by Asst. Prof. Vandana D’Souza, Head, Department of English.

The programme began with invoking God’s blessings through a soulful rendition by Jason Lobo (III BA). Assoc. Prof. Cecilia Farida Goveas, IQAC Coordinator welcomed the gathering.

The Presidential address by the Principal Dr. Juliet CJ was through a powerpoint presentation. A brief history of the Institution, significant milestones, various academic programmes, academic linkages, extension activities as well as the teaching methodologies adopted were highlighted.

Assoc. Prof. Vineetha K., Registrar (Evaluation) spoke on autonomy status, features of the New Education Policy, Mentoring system, Continuous Comprehensive Evaluation (CCE) and its modules as well as the Examination system followed as per Mangalore University guidelines.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Assoc. Prof. Cecilia Farida Goveas provided details and awareness on the Code of Conduct (Code of Ethics) of the College. She expressed how students shall conduct themselves both within and outside the college premises in a befitting manner. Various acts of commission/omission related to ragging, use of mobiles, smoking, involvement in substance abuse, adherence to college uniform etc were explicitly detailed. She further stressed that gross violations of the Code of Conduct was liable to invoke appropriate disciplinary action by the Disciplinary Action Committee (DAC). She reiterated that the Code of Conduct is displayed on the college website. She urged parents and guardians to read all the rules and regulations printed on the Academic Calendar and join together towards fostering holistic development in adolescents.

Besides, Assoc. Prof. Cecilia Goveas addressed the gathering on Fora activities, clubs attendance and class timings.

Vice- Principal Dr. Jenis Mary P. listed the qualities of a Roshnite as expressed by students to her namely leadership qualities, greater self-confidence, and better skills of articulation. She remarked that today’s adolescents in the campus have begun to hear with their eyes and see through their ears emphasizing that the student body are on the right path towards holistic development.

Dr. Sandra Sunitha Lobo, Chairperson of the Parents’ Resource Group (PRG) addressed the parents on the objectives of the PRG. Parents were enthused and a few parents volunteered to be members of the Executive Core Committee of PRG. As NAAC Coordinator, Dr. Sandra Lobo profusely thanked the parents for coming in large numbers on May 19th 2022 during the NAAC Peer team visit to the college.

The awareness programme was attended by parents/guardians of 47 II BA, 16 II BSW, 64 III BA and 13 III BSW students. The programme concluded with the audience singing the National Anthem.

Thereafter, parents along with their wards met subject/language teachers as well as their ward’s mentors for a one-on-one interaction. The programme and interactive session ended at 12:45p.m.
