The First International Series of Lecture was organised by the Department of Community development (MSW) and UG departments of Rural Development and Economics on January 14, 2020 in the auditorium. The theme of the Lecture was -Green economy - An International Perspective . Rev . Fr Alwyn D’Souza , Director St . Joseph Sustainable Organic Centre for Excellence , Tanzania , East Africa was the resource person .

He addressed the students on the concept of Organic Farming with special reference to Effective Micro - organism technology a highly effective Japanese model which had been put into practice by the SJS organic centre for excellence for sustainable development of agriculture in 9 villages in Tanzania where 75% of the population were farmers . He also explained the methods to prepare the EM solution . This solution he said was not only cost effective but has multi purposes like plant life enhancement, building up immunity in animals, for cleaning purposes .

Fr Alwyn briefed about various methods used in agriculture and allied activities like charcoal cold storage, low cost bio gas , Korean model 1 feet Piggery model that is no smell , no fly Piggery , free range chicken model .

Rev Fr Alwyn said that rejuvenation of Agriculture and its sustainability is the need of the hour and everyone has a role to play in preserving the environment.
