The Second Year students of BA Department of Psychology accompanied by the Faculty visited three places of interest on Friday, February 28th 2020.

A group of 20 students accompanied by Guest Faculty, Ms. Verina Joshna, visited White Doves Psychiatric Nursing and Destitute Home, Mangaluru from 10:30 am to 12 p.m. The students were given details about the functioning of the Home by its founder, Mrs Corrine Rasquinha.  Cultural programmes, games, monetary donation besides supply of a few toiletries and fruits for all marked a fruitful day with the destitutes.

Another group of 20 students accompanied by Guest Faculty Ms .Verina Joshna visited Roshni Nilaya kindergarten from 1:30 pm to 3:00 pm.

60 UKG children were taught rhymes, action songs and origami (fish) separately in two classrooms.  Games were conducted and all the children carried home a gift thoughtfully prepared by the students.  

 

 

 

Yet another batch of 20 students accompanied by Associate Professor Sandra Lobo, visited St. Antony Charity Institutes from 1:30 pm to 3:00 p.m. Rev Father Thrishan  D’Souza accompanied the group and showed the various homes, poultry, candle making unit, tailoring unit, piggery, kitchen that caters to feeding 400 inmates etc.

The students entertained 40 female inmates with a medley of catchy Konkani, hindi and Malayalam songs. They gave a dance performance as well. Games were conducted. Some of the inmates gave performances – songs and dances.  

All the three visits were an exercise to introspect and appreciate stages of life besides expressing solidarity with the elderly and destitutes in particular. Communitarian spirit was evoked and students engaged in works of charity.
