GURU VANDANA
On the 30th of August, the Department of English, Roshni Nilaya School of Social Work organised a Felicitation Program, to felicitate one of the Senior most lecturers of School of Social Work, Roshni Nilaya and Mangalore University, Prof.Ms.Fracis G. Colaco and also felicitate every teacher who has worked in the Department since the inception of the Undergraduate courses in the year 1970.
The programme was titled a 'Bridge from the Past- Guru Vandana,' and in all 25 lecturers were felicitated. The Alumni of the College contributed immensely to the success of the programme.
The Program commenced with a short entertainment program by the students of Roshni Nilaya and was followed by the formal function. The formal function began with the esteemed Alumni of the College and the Professors of English, led by Ms. Colaco walking in to the auditorium, ushered in by students with lighted diyas and flowers to the sound of carnatic music.
Ms. Shobhana, Head of the Department, welcomed the gathering and introduced Ms. Francis Colaco and spoke of her immense contributions towards the Department of English and the Institution. Ms. Colaco was honoured by the dignitaries on the Dias, after the lighting of the lamps. Ms.Colaco expressed her appreciation and gratitude and said that it would be meaningful to have such programs to recognise and honour Teachers from all faculties, so that the contribution of Teachers remains memorable.
Ms. Phyllis, Ms.Sonia Karkera, Ms.Malini Hebbar, Ms. Asha, Ms.Thangamalini, Ms.Parinatha, Ms.Shruthi, were some of the Teachers who graced the occasion with their presence. Mr. L.N.Bhat , the Registrar and Ms.Philomena D’Souza also expressed their heartfelt thoughts about Ms. Colaco’s contribution to the Institution. Every teacher who was felicitated was given a scrolled citation penned by the students who had studied under them.
