During Crime Prevention Month, the Department of Criminology, in collaboration with Mangalore South Police Station Pandeshwar, Mangaluru, organized a "Drug Awareness" session on December 20, 2023, in the College Auditorium. The focus was on fostering global efforts to eliminate drug abuse. Ms. Sarik Ankitha, Head of the department welcomed the gathering. Mr. Gururaj, Inspector of Police led the session, discussing drug usage, trafficking, and the associated consequences. Emphasis was placed on the NDPS Acts, their stringent penalties, and the non-bailable nature of NDPS offenses. Students were briefed on relevant cases under the NDPS Act.

The session highlighted that combating the drug menace requires sustained efforts from all stakeholders and cannot be resolved overnight. Students were encouraged to cooperate by confidentially reporting any individuals involved in drug abuse to the police. The event successfully raised awareness about drug abuse and illicit trafficking, providing insights into current trends and legal actions. The participation of 50 students contributed to the success of the session.
