The Post-Graduate Department of Criminology and Forensic Science had organized a session on ‘Psychological Disorders’ for Second year MSc CFS, Forensic Psychology and Criminal Justice specialization students on 4th & 5th December 2023 at 11.30am. Ms. Sarah Crasta, Lecturer cum Student Counsellor, St. Aloysius College, Mangaluru and also alumni of the Institution was the resource person. The objective of the session is to provided conceptual knowledge on the psychological disorders, to throw light on the personality disorders, mental disorders, and the relevant laws by field expert through case studies.

Dr. Saritha D’Souza , Head of the Post Graduate Department of Criminology and Forensic Science, introduced the speaker of the session. Ms. Sarah began the session by explaining the concept of psychological disorders. Further, she gave the clear difference of normal and abnormal behaviors to the students with the examples. The session was followed by the history, classification, Mental and Personality Disorders along with relevant laws.

The students expressed that the session was informative and gave a clear conceptual definition for each term, answered the queried put forth by the students and shared the case studies which helped to differentiate the psychological disorders. The session was concluded with the vote of thanks delivered by Ms. Nelisha Cutinah, student of Second year MSc CFS. Altogether, 5 students of the specialization were present during the session.
