Ragging, Bullying and Eve-teasing are fast growing sexual Harassments against women in India. They are Behaviours that is designed to hurt someone else, or make them do something that they do not want to do. 

Ragging is an old practice for welcoming fresher in a barbaric manner, traced back from 7th or 8th A.D. Bullying also being one of the biggest problems around the country in schools and social platforms. Eve-teasing is again a very common social problem and everyday women come across some form of eve-teasing.

The latest report says there is 75% increase in Ragging, 40% increase in Bullying and nearly 70% increase in Eve-teasing in India. Although there are various punishments and necessary steps taken to prevent them from the root, we need to start from the Families and make sure people are aware about the consequences.

In this context, as a part of the Personal and Professional Development Programme, the first year students of the Post Graduate Department of Criminology and Forensic Science had taken an initiative to present on the topic entitled ‘Persuade a Social Responsibility in The Prevention of Ragging, Bullying and Eve-teasing’ on 18th February 2020 at 3.30pm in the Maria Paiva Hall of the College.

The students raised awareness on the issue by enacting a skit covering all the three aspects and giving a note “Tomorrow it could be your sister, your mother, your fiancee or even your friend! which role would you play? Think before you Act". Further, power point presentations containing various aspects on Ragging, Bullying and Eve-teasing including gender discrimination, crimes, reasons, causes, punishments and preventions were discussed which would help the students in their personal and professional life. The session was concluded with a quote “#MAAL people use this word for goods not for girls”. Around 150 Post Graduate students of the college and the faculties were present on this occasion.
