The study tour for Msc counselling school of social work to JNANA DEEPA institute of philosophy and theology, Pune culminated on a trip around the city of Pune on day 4.

The first stop of the day was the AGAKHAN PALACE. The Aghakan palace played a significant role when India’s freedom struggle was at its peak. This was where Mahatma Gandhi was arrested and Kasturba Gandhi Breathed her last. The palace has been preserved as commemoration of these events.

The students then proceeded to visit the WAR MEMORIAL southern command at pune laid by Gen VP Malik, AVSM, ADC, Chief of the Army Staff on 23 Dec 1997. The memorial was dedicated to the nation on 15 Aug 1998 by His Excellency the Governor of Maharastra Dr PC Alexander.

Following this, students headed to “SHANIWAR WADA” residence of the Peshwas of the Maratha Empire. Peshwa Baji Rao laid the ceremonial foundation of his own residence on Saturday, January 10, 1730.

Post lunch, students enjoyed shopping at Pune market areas and headed to railway station after dinner bidding a final goodbye to the city of Pune.
