An extension activity on ‘Stress Management’ was conducted by 14 II M.Sc. Counselling students, School of Social Work, Roshni Nilaya on 30th October 2023 on the 32 members undergoing rehabilitation from addiction at LINK de addiction centre, Mangalore.

The objectives of the session were ‘To equip the members with techniques for anger and stress management’ and ‘to identify states of worry or mental tension and cope with them in a healthy way’. Anger is another negative emotion which each one acts or reacts differently that can cause damage to self and others as well. These two emotions are part of life and this session was to train the members with easy methods to deal with these two emotions.

The facilitators through energizers and activities oriented the members towards the session. They created an ambiance for the interaction among themselves and with the facilitators. There was time for sharing, as well as, for introspection and application of the techniques learnt. The members were able to relate to the content presented and shared their experience. The outcome of this session was that the members were able to apply this newly learnt knowledge to their practical life situations and thus, become an effective tool to cope with life challenges in a positive way. The members were very grateful and happy to welcome this new learning and to practice it in their daily life.
