As a part of academic practical curriculum, the second year students of Post Graduate Department of Criminology and Forensic Science, Forensic Psychology and Criminal Justice Specialization accompanied by Mr. Niketh P.S., Assistant Professor of the Department had visited to De-Addiction and Psycho-Social Rehabilitation Centre at Fr. Muller Medical College, Kankanady, Mangaluru on Thursday, 25th May 2023 at 10am.

The main objective of the visit was to learn the functions of the De-Addiction and Psycho-Social Rehabilitation Centre, to interact with the patients. Students first visited the de-addiction centre at Fr. Muller Medical College, Mangaluru at 10am. Fr. Preeyash, Counsellor, provided the information about the working nature of the centre. Students were allowed to interact with two patients and could gain more insight into the effectiveness of rehabilitation programmes provided to them. Ms. Rashmi Shenoy, second year student of MSc CFS delivered the vote of thanks at 11.30am.

Further, the students visited the Psycho-Social Rehabilitation Centre of the same institution at 11.45am. Dr. Avinash Shekar, Neuro-Psychiatric explained the structure and functions of Psycho-Social Rehabilitation centre by taking the students around the institution. He spoke about the therapies, segregation of patients depending upon the seriousness of the situation for the treatment, various types of treatment provided for the patients and the vocational activities conducted. Ms. Likhitha V. K. second year student of MSc CFS delivered a vote of thanks at 1.30pm. Students expressed that both the visits were informative and could gain more insight into the subject matter taught in the classroom. Altogether, 7 students and a faculty of the college, 700 patients and 60 staff members were present during the visit.
