Four students of II MSc Counselling conducted a 4 hours Psycho Education programme on the topic “Coping Skills” for 20 trainee Montessori teachers, of Honeycomb Montessori School, Mullakad, Mangalore on 20th Mar 2021.

The aim of the programme was to make the members aware of their coping skills and adjust the skills according to the life situation.SIT approach was used to enhance the members’ understanding and awareness of the nature and the impact of their stress and to bolster the members’ coping repertoire, as well as their confidence in being able to apply their coping skills in a flexible fashion that meets their appraised demands of the stressful situation. Preliminary assessment was administered to assess the stressful life events and stressors of the participants.

The session helped the participants to be aware of their stressors, and to identify changeable, unchangeable, controllable, uncontrollable factors in their stressful life situation. It has also facilitated the members to identify and strengthen their coping skills.

 

 

 

 

 

Participants at the end of the session shared that they have learned new coping skills to deal with daily life stressors. On the whole the facilitators met the objectives in helping them to identify and strengthening their coping skills and to adjust it with daily life situations.
