In honour of Dr. Olinda Pereira, Founder Principal of School of Social Work, Roshni Nilaya, an International Webinar on ‘Geriatric Care during Pandemic Times’ was co-hosted by the Centre for Leadership and Social Development (R), Bengaluru, {founded by the alumni of the college in memory of Dr. Pereira}, IQAC and Centre for Professional Excellence/Centre for Extension Services of the college as well as Roshni Alumni Association (RAA), Mangaluru and Bengaluru chapters on 31st May 2021 via zoom web portal. Dr. Prabha Adhikari, Professor and Head of the Department of Geriatric Medicine, Yenepoya (Deemed-to-be) University, Mangaluru was the resource person.

Assoc. Prof. Cecilia Farida Goveas, IQAC Coordinator cum Head of the Department of Economics, School of Social Work efficiently facilitated the meet. Ms. Philomena D’Sa, Provincial, Daughters of the Heart of Mary – South Province paid an appropriate tribute. Dr. Juliet C. J., Principal of the college welcomed the guests and Dr. Jenis Mary, Vice Principal introduced the resource person. Ms. Vida Sequeira, President of the Institute of Social Service, Ms. Eveleen Benis, Secretary, Mr. S. N. Gopinath, Managing Trustee of Centre for Leadership and Social Development (CLSD), Mr. Bhima Rao and Mr. Ravichandra Bekal, founding trustees, Mr. Dheeraj Shetty, President, Roshni Alumni Association, Mangaluru, were among those present. Rev. Fr. Cedric Prakash, Dr. Pereira's nephew, and other close family members also attended.

Dr. Prabha Adhikari M.R. discussed geriatric health, including the causes for the high prevalence of COVID 19 among the elderly, the effects of COVID 19 on geriatric care, and health interventions to improve geriatric care. During the pandemic, she detailed the creative trials and activities carried out by her institution, Kasturba Medical College, and the People's Association for Geriatric Empowerment (PAGE), in geriatric care.

The resource person remarked on Dr. Olinda Pereira's remarkable traits of wisdom, practical planning, and fundraising talents, as well as her humorous and humane demeanour. A vote of gratitude was proposed by Mr. Vasanth Kumar Kamila, President of the Bengaluru-based Roshni Alumni Association. The online Memorial lecture drew more than 120 participants.
