The students of the Socio-Economic Forum (Second Year and Final Year) spent a day in Ammunje Village, Bantwal on 05 February 2019.

 

 


The trip was planned in order to get the students face to face with rural India and the life and amenties there.

The students visited the Primary Health Center at Benjanapadav and collected information about health facilities in the PHC for the village population. They were also given an informative session on family planning by the Head Nurse of the PHC.

 

 

The next stop was the Anganwadi school at Ammunje village. The students had an opportunity to interact with the staff and children. The Anganwadi teacher also explained the recruitment process and training for Anganwadis in the DK district. A ssion on the various facilities that the Anganwadi provides to the children and families of the village was conducted by the teacher.

The students witness various agriculrural activities in some of the farms of the village. They got see closely the arecanut cultivation, irrigation, plucking, drying and cleaning. 

 

 

 

A short trekking was also organized to make the students walk hand in hand within the lap of nature.

The students performed a street play on protection of environment in the Ammunje Government school and the wood depot of Ammunje.

The students then visited the wood log depot. the owner explained the students that despite the demand for wood has been replaced by LPG, wood is still demanded for religious purposes.

 

 

 

The final stop was the dairy depot of Ammunje village which collects milk. The depot owner enlightened the students about the process of collection, checking for purity, payment process, facilities that are provided in terms of subsidized fodder and veterinary attention.

On the whole, the students got an opportunity to see how the life in a village is. The trip covered health, education, secondary livelihood, agriculture and irigation.
