The National Service Scheme Unit and Youth Red Cross Unitof School of Social Work, Roshni Nilaya organized a webinar on the topic “Household Waste Management” on June 25, 2021 at 5:00pm. The Resource person of the webinar was Mr. Jeeth Milan Roche, Environmentalist. The Key note address was given by Ms. Eveleen Benis, Secretary, Institute of Social Service. This event was organised by Mr. Obanath, NSS Programme Officer, Mrs. Veena B K, Assistant NSS Programme Officer and Mrs. Anusuya Shenoy, YRC Programme Officer.

The Master of the Ceremony for the programme was Ms. Manisha D Ullal, NSS Volunteer. Ms. Haseena Muskaan, YRC Volunteer welcomed the gathering and the resource person was introduced by Ms. Theresa J, YRC Volunteer. The programme began with Dr. Juliet C J, Principal, School of Social Work, Roshni Nilaya giving the presidential address. After this the resource person Mr. Jeeth Milan Roche explained about different types of household waste like dry waste, wet waste, E-waste and hazardous waste. He proceeded to show the participants how to make waste compost at home using a compost bin at home with the help of microbes and how microbes play an important role in decomposing the waste. He even demonstrated how the wet and dry waste from his own house was turned into manure after 20 days and using this manure was a good source for plants to grow. Through question and answer the participants were actively involved in the session. The virtual meet ended at 6:00 pm with Vote of thanks given by Ms. Namratha, NSS Student Representative. The NSS and YRC student representatives of the organizing committee were Ms. Haseena Muskaan, Ms. Josepheena Devassy Kutty, Ms. Manisha D Ullal, Ms. Namratha, Ms. Theresa J and Mr. Vishnu S.
