The Webinar on “SELF AWARENESS” was organised by School of Social Work, Roshni Nilaya, for students of First Year BA /BSW on 4th January 2021 at 2.00 p.m by esteemed Speaker Advocate Rushila Rebello,practising Advocate at Court-Bandra, Mumbai.

She has worked at the Supreme Court, Delhi High Court, National Consumer Redressal Commission, District Consumer Redressal Forum and the lower courts in Delhi as an Advocate. She has Experience in Legal Consultation, Drafting Civil and Criminal Cases, filing and litigating Civil and Criminal Cases of Gross Human Rights Violation such as Gang Rape, Acid Attack, Medical Negligence, Dowry Death, Domestic Violence, Disability Matters at the above mentioned Courts in Delhi and Experience in litigating Public Interest Litigations in the Delhi High Court.

She has conducted state level legal trainings for lawyers, social activists and stake-holders. The Webinar began with invoking God's blessings by Ms.Sarah, Student of First Year B.A. and a Welcome Speech by Ms.Swathi Shajil, student of first BA.

Dr Juliet C.J, Principal of School of Social Work, Roshni Nilaya addressed the students and told the importance of reflection programme.

Ms. Rushila Rebello started a session with a story about how she was not ready to accept the self-awareness concept and used to run away from it and eventually with time she realised the importance and meaning of self-awareness. She shared a story about Buddha, connecting with self-awareness which was enlightening and more understanding regarding the topic of the day"Self-Awareness".

For the participants to be more aware and understanding Ms. Rushila, explained by giving definitions of self-awareness such as self-awareness is knowing yourself or having a clear perception of our personality including strengths, weakness, thoughts, beliefs, motivation, emotion, opinions, inspiration and sentiments and also understanding our own needs and desires. Also discussed the key areas of self-awareness, personality traits, personal values, habits, emotions, and psychological needs. And the three main sources of self-awareness, the social environment, the physical world and the self.By sharing the knowledge, Ms. Rushila moved to the next part of the webinar, that is, exercises regarding self-awareness.
There were 6 exercises related to self-awareness. They were :

Exercise for relaxation, Who Am I? (describe yourself to 3 words), inventory list (write 5 strength and weakness of yourself), My profile circle or The Rating circle, Self-introductory- family brief, Awareness of feelings-Mind- body connection.

This exercise gave an insight to the participants, many participants interacted while giving their experiences of how they got to know more about themselves and how they want to improve themselves.

The presentation ended with discussing self-discovery, how self-awareness helps in students, our daily life and in career development.
The webinar ended with the Vote of Thanks by Ms. Vedika Somaiah, student of first year B.A.
The Webinar was informative and knowledgeable. There was active participation and great interaction. The knowledge gained in the Webinar can be used in practical life and to one’s development.
