The BSW Department of School of Social Work, Roshni Nilaya, Mangaluru, organized a Webinar on “Government programs for Differently Abled and Senior Citizens in Karnataka” on 11th June 2021. The Webinar was held on Google meet from 2.30pm to 4.00pm. The resource person for this Webinar was Smt. Yamuna D, Womens Protection Officer-Mangaluru-Urban and District Disabled and Senior Citizens Welfare Officer-In charge, DK District.

The Webinar began with a welcome address by Prof. Vineetha Rai, Head of the BSW Department and Registrar (Evaluation), School of Social Work,Roshni Nilaya. She welcomed the Resource person and introduced the resource person to the participants.

Smt. Yamuna, the resource person of the Webinar explained the meaning of Disability, types of Disability, Process of Identification of Differently Abled Person. Coming to the scheme, Madam explained the Monthly Pension, Scholarship, Prize Money, Fee Reimbursement Scheme, Marriage Scheme, Two Wheeler Vehicle , Equipments like- Artificial limb, Walker, Wheel Chair, Hearing Aid, Talking Laptop etc. Unemployment Scheme, Aadhar Yojana, Village level worker, Act related to Disability and the benefits of Unique Disability Identity Card (UDID).

Madam also spoke about the schemes for senior citizens- Monthly Pension, Senior CitizenHelpline-1090, Act related to Senior Citizen, Granting Aid to Old-age homes run by the NGO, COVID 19 Vaccination at home for the bed ridden.

The session came to an end with a round of questions and answers. Reema Shakwa from lll BSW proposed the vote of thanks. Prof. Vineetha Rai concluded the Webinar and thanked the resource person and the organizing team, as well as the Faculty of the BSW Department.
