A guest lecture on ‘Pregnancy, childbirth and beyond’ by Dr JoyleneD’Almeida, obstetrician and gynaecologist, Fr Muller’s Hospital was organised for the II year students of Psychology on July 28, 2017.  Dr MeghanaMukund, anesthesiologist from Yenepoya Hospital addressed on women’s health issues.


A field based exposure visit to Ave Maria Palliative Care, Vamanjoor was organized by Psy Forum on Saturday, 29th July 2017 for the final year students of Psychology.  

A brief session was taken up by its Director, Dr. Lavina Noronha who addressed us on the basic concepts, goals and objectives regarding Palliative care. For those who accept their impending death, the Centre prepares themselves to complete certain tasks such as offering forgiveness, being forgiven, acknowledging regrets, finding closure in professional and community relationships, and saying goodbye to family and friends. Dr. Lavina Noronha shared a couple of closure cases.

The students interacted with very few patients/relatives, greeted them with smiles and a medley of songs to uplift their spirit. They experienced the motto of the Centre, "When cure is impossible, the possibilities for care are endless." The visit was a very humbling experience, to introspect and appreciate life.



The II BA (38) students of Psychology accompanied by Asst. Prof. Yamini Gowda PC conducted a mental health awareness programme titled ‘I’m fine, I’ll shine’on Friday, August 11, 2017 between 2pm-3pm at Vikas Pre University College, Mangaluru.


First year students of Psychology participated in a psycho-educational session conducted by II M.Sc Counselling students on inner beauty, empathy, respect and psychological well-being on August 31, 2017.



Sixteen students of Psychology gave a cultural programme comprising of a comedy skit and classical & contemporary dance performances to the delegates of the 18th National Conference of Catholic psychologists of India on the theme ‘Positive Psychology - A pathway to well-being’ on September 22, 2017 in the College auditorium.


II BA students of Psychology enacted five nursery rhymes to the LKG children on November 29th 2017 at Roshni Nilaya kindergarten.


The II BA students of Psychology accompanied by Assoc. Prof. Sandra Lobo conducted a mental health awareness programme titled ‘Knowing you and I’ on Thursday, December 7th 2017 and Friday, December 8th 2017 at St Agnes PU College and Milagres PU College respectively.


A guest lecture by Ms KavithaAranha on “Language Acquisition Device” was organized for the II BA students on January 3, 2018.


On Friday, 12 th January 2018, the Department of Psychology, School of Social Work, Roshni Nilaya organized a workshop titled ‘Healing- Uncovering the Unconscious’ for the students. Assoc. Prof. Sandra S. Lobo, Head, Department of Psychology welcomed the gathering. Vice Principal Dr P. Jenis Mary expressed her happiness and appreciation towards the organizing of the workshop. Speaking about the prevailing psychological wounds that are difficult to understand, she emphasized that such a session would help to gain an introspective report of ourselves and pave the way to a  better future.     

The workshop was inaugurated by Mr Naveen Prasad, a healer, psychotherapist, Mandala artist, yoga and bio-energetics practitioner based in Coimbatore. In a unique manner, the workshop was inaugurated by the resource person removing the adhesive from the bandage and giving the model of a scarred heart, a wound care dressing. Through experiential exercises and activities, the participants of the workshop underwent the process of psychological differentiation and it empowered them to be aware of audio-visual and kinesthetic thoughts, behaviour, sensing, belief and emotional dimensions and how they interweave to build their identity. The three hour workshop was conducted with a purpose to help participants become integrated, happy, mature, responsible beings and also have clarity about the workings of human nature and the environment around them.

Ms Diya Jacob (I BA) compered the inaugural programme.

Through Gestalt, NLP, TA, Mandalas, Symbols, Meditative, Contemplative, Mindfulness,  Movement and Art Therapy tools, Shri Naveen Prasad conducts a unique and a powerful self-development programme called ‘SWITCH’ every 2nd Saturday and Sunday of every month in Mangaluru



Rangasagara in collaboration with the Departments of Psychology and Criminology organized an anti-drug campaign titled ‘Arise, Awake’ on January 18, 2018 for all the UG students of the College. The campaign included reciting self-composed poem and singing a rap song, dance performances, street play and narration of a case of drug addiction. The campaign included display of posters and placards ending with a walk and shouting slogans. It ended with all taking a vow against drug abuse.


Psy Forum in in collaboration with AICUF visited Snehalaya Psychosocial Rehabilitation Centre, Manjeshwar on January 26, 2018. Cultural programmes, games, vocational training and donation of food items marked a fruitful day with the destitute.
