Report on Teaching in Government school

Department of English, School Of Social Work, Roshni Nilaya had conducted the Outreach program on teaching in government school, to III B.A students. 36 of us were divided into 2 groups. One group was sent to Bejai Kapikad government School and another group was sent to Attavar government school. An Outreach program was conducted for two days, that is on 17th and 24th of June from afternoon 1.30pm to 4.00pm.

We were sent to DK.Z.P.HRY. school Bejai Kapikad, mangalore. It was a beautiful school with positive vibes. Each class was assigned to 3 students. On 17th of June,2022, it was the first day of this initiative. We went to the school and met the principal. And she directed us to the different classes. We went there and introduced ourselves to the students in the class. We started the class with a small activity and an action song. The students were very enthusiastic and interested to learn new things from us. Then each of us in the group taught them a small prose text or a poem. We were marked accordingly on our ability to handle and teach the class by the class teacher who was present at the time of teaching. We have made use of charts, blackboard, laptops to make the students learn from the images, and understand the topic better. And at the end of the day we conducted some physical activities and distributed chocolates. On 24 june, 2022 it was the second day in the school. We taught them a lesson and conducted some creative activities like craft making and drawing. All the students were very happy and we all made sure that they enjoyed learning.

This Outreach program with the government school students was really a good and useful initiative. It not only gave us an opportunity to teach the students but also helped us learn a lot from them. We would like to thank Ms. Vandana D’souza Head Department of English for giving this wonderful opportunity to teach government school children.
