The students of 2nd year M.Sc counseling School of Social Work, Roshni Nilaya, organized a psycho education on the topic healthy parenting styles. This was conducted for 13 parents of kinder garden students of KottaparaAnganwady, Madikai Ambalathra Panchayath under Kanhangad ICDS. The session was organized on 27/04/2022and 28/04/2022 for the duration of 2 hour per day.

The group session was conducted by seven group leaders. The purpose of the psycho education was to teach the parents how to develop healthy parenting style. For two days, the group session was divided into two sessions. The first session began with introducing themselves with their child’s appreciative behavior. And group leaders taught them by using questionnaire, which helped them to identify the level of parent child relationship. The focus on the second session, the group leaders introduced them about different parenting styles. In the third session, leaders trained the parents to help the child communicate effectively. The last session was about behavioral techniques, how to enhance healthy parenting style. The session helped them to find out different situations and how to handle the children and respond those situations. The parents actively participated in the whole session and were able to learn to develop healthy parenting style.
