Ms. Shylaja (JDO) from District Agricultural Training Centre at Belthangady approached Ms Rosa Mathew (HOD) Of MSc. Counselling to conduct a session on Personality Development for the officers in the department. Knowing the students’ needs, necessity and the ability, Ms Rosa encouraged and considered the students to grasp the opportunity.

The students from II Year MSc. Counselling were happy to join in conducting the psycho-education session and made use of this rare opportunity on the 18th of January 2020 in Belthangady at the District Agricultural Training District Centre.

The JDO welcomed each one of us and the gesture of hospitality was shown. There were 25 participants who were present including the JDO. The students along with HOD were able to convey the contents which were well prepared on personality development.

There were four objectives with the exercises and processing involved under the topic of personality development. 1).To help the members cultivate an optimistic outlook 2). To practice principles of happiness 3)To build positive relationship 4) To help members move towards flourishing. Each objectives again included the examples, exercises which are practical, how to cultivate optimism within oneself and outside of the self, finding joy and happiness in a smaller things in daily experiences, maintaining a positive relationship with others, savour and flourish life as a whole.

The students were confident to face the members and convey the content which was an adding point to the strength of the facilitators’ group. The members involved themselves fully that they were ever ready to share after each objectives and exercises. The members who could follow Kannada and English so the session was in both languages mixing in order to make the members to benefit from the session. The whole process of psycho-education were satisfactorily conducted from the beginning to the end. All the members were very happy and joyful during this session according to their feed- back about the session.

At the end of the session the facilitators thanked the JDO and the officers for their hospitality, involvement in the sessions and for sharing the points related to the topics.

The outcome of the session were the involvement of the members and total participation in the activities conducted as exercises regarding the module.The senior officers were young at mind and heart to listen, participate and acquire knowledge from the session.
