The Post Graduate Department of Criminology and Forensic Science had organized a brain storming session for first year MSc CFS students on the topic ‘Cyber Forensics’ on 17th September 2022 at 11am. Mr. Chirag C. Suvarna., Cyber Security Analyst, CyberSapiens United LLP, Mangaluru and an alumnus of the department was the resource person.

Mr. Chirag discussed about the concept of Cyber Forensics, Cyber Crimes, techniques of its investigation and evidences that need to be looked for. He also spoke about the future prospects in the field of Cyber Forensics especially students from the relevant area would get several opportunities in the corporate sectors as Cyber Security Analyst, importance of internship and certificate course. He shared his experience in the field with a few cases handled related to cyber crimes. He also gave a brief note on the nature of work done by the Cyber Security investigators in the corporate sector, guidelines and professional ethics that need to follow while handling the cases.



There were queries by the students regarding the job approaches in the corporate sectors, procedure of approach, challenges faced during the investigation and submission of report. The students expressed that the session was an insight into the new field of Cyber Forensics especially useful for the students from the background of Engineering, Computer Science and Application to build career in the field. Altogether, 14 students were present during the interactive session.
