The Post Graduate Department of Criminology and Forensic Science had organized an interaction session for Third year students of B.Sc. Forensic Science, The Yenepoya Institute of Arts Science Commerce and Management (YIASCM), A Constituent Unit of Yenepoya (Deemed to be University), Mangaluru on 23rd June 2022 at 10am in Maria Paiva Hall of the college.

At the beginning students were taken to the Forensic Science Museum of the college to explain about the functions of various divisions of the Forensic Science Laboratory through practical demonstration. The exhibits of the Scientific evidences that can be found in various crime scenes and its forensic analysis were explained by first year students of MSc CFS. Divisions such as Forensic ballistics, Tool marks, Glass fractures, Security Systems, Questioned Documents, Forensic Anthropology, Forensic Medicine, Fingerprints, Footprints, Crime Scene and other Trace Evidences were explained.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Further, there was an interaction session with Dr. Saritha D’Souza, Head of the Post Department of Criminology and Forensic Science of the college, about the scope, future prospects in Forensic Science, Research methods and various career options in the relevant field. Ms. Bindiya. T, Assistant Professor of the Department distinctly explained about the identification of Age and Gender through human skeleton remains.

A total of 46 students accompanied by coordinator of the program Ms. Bhavyashree Rai and Ms. Swathi, Assistant Professor of YIASCM, 4 alumni of the department, 24 students and 4 faculties of the hosting college (76) were present during the event.
