As a part of academic curriculum, the second year students of Post Graduate department of Criminology and Forensic Science, Forensic Psychology and Criminal Justice Specialization accompanied by Mr. Roshan D’Souza, Assistant Professor of the Department had visited Snehalaya: Psycho-Social Rehabilitation Centre, Pavoor, Manjeshwar, Kasaragod, Kerala on Wednesday, 8th June 2022 at 2pm.

The main objective of the visit was to learn the functions of Non-Governmental Organization working for the Psycho-Social Rehabilitation and to interact with the inmates. Mr. Joseph Crasta, founder of the institution provided information on the historical development of Snehalaya Psycho-Social Rehabilitation Centre and Old Age Home, the units of Snehalaya Charitable Trust and the services given by them to the society.

 

 

 

Students had an opportunity to interact with the counsellors working with the inmates and their care takers. Students also gained knowledge with regard to the new startups like NGO working for the victims of various crimes and their rehabilitation programmes. Various activities such as dance, games, songs etc., have been conducted by the students during the interaction with the inmates and could spend time with them. Altogether, 8 students and a faculty of the college, 216 inmates and 9 staff of the organization (234) were present during the interaction.
