As a part of Post Promotional Course for Police Sub-Inspectors of Western Range, Karnataka, the fourth day training session was held on tuesday 26th October 2021 at 11.30am in the College Seminar hall on the topic ‘Role of Technology in Detection of Crime’. Mr. Roshan D’Souza, Asst. Professor, Post Graduate Department of Criminology and Forensic Science, School of Social Work, Roshni Nilaya, Mangaluru was the resource person. He spoke about the use of technology in crime detection and adoption of modern technology during the investigation of crime. He stressed upon the advantages of using technology for the effective investigation and its disadvantages in certain circumstances which may lead to the lack of accuracy and reliability of evidence to prove the guilt of the person. Hence, a few suggestions were discussed during the session to improve the quality of training of Police Sub-Inspectors in the field of technology.

Ms. Shoba D’Souza, Asst. Professor, Undergraduate Department of Social Work of the college and Member, Child Welfare Committee, Dakshina Kannada District created interest among the police officials though a song and gave an activity demonstrating the unity among the colleagues, positive attitude toward the service and a vital role of each one towards the success of police department as a whole.

At the beginning of the session Dr. Saritha D’Souza, Asst. Professor and Head of the Post Graduate Department of Criminology and Forensic Science welcomed the police officials and at the end delivered the vote of thanks for actively participating throughout the sessions. She expressed her gratitude to the organizers of the training session headed by Sri. Sonawane Rishikesh Bhagawan, IPS, Superintendent of Police, Dakshina Kannada District, Sri. Dinakar Shetty, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Dakshina Kannada District for providing the opportunity to interact with police officials for four days. Congratulated each police officers for being promoted in their job profile, whole heartedly thanked them for their selfless services to the public and towards the maintenance of law and order in the society. On behalf of the Institution wished them all the best for their future endeavors.

Dr. Juliet C.J. Principal of the college felicitated each one of the police officials with a token of gratitude and expressed her best wishes for their future venture. Students of the Post Graduate Department of Criminology and Forensic Science were the volunteers during the training period. Altogether, 38 Police Sub-Inspectors of Western Range Police, Karnataka representing five districts actively interacted during the session followed by two accompanied staff of the police department and ten student representatives of MSc Criminology and Forensic Science department were present on this occasion.
