On the occasion of World Environmental Health Day (26-09-2021), Forensis Forum, Post Graduate Department of Criminology and Forensic Science in collaboration with Centre for Extension Services and IQAC, School of Social Work, Roshni Nilaya, Mangaluru organized, a National Level Webinar on‘Environmental Crimes: An Emerging Threat to Humanity"on Monday, 27th September2021 at 2.30pm via Google meet platform.

Dr. R. N. Mangoli, Professor, Director and Chairman, Department of Criminology and Criminal Justice, Rani Chennamma University, Belagavi, Karnataka was the Resource person. He addressed on the various issues of environment such as Environmental studies and its importance, Role of UGC about the awareness of environmental studies, World Environmental health issues, contributions of environment, requirement for healthy environment, scope for eco-friendly environment, Specific emerging threats to humanity, Legal laws relevant to the protection of environment and to prevent environmental crimes, current statistical data relevant to environmental crimes. Further, he discussed on the queries put forth by the participants, appealed everyone to plant trees, save water, and to keep the environment safe for the healthy and happy living.

Dr. Juliet C.J. principal of the college expressed the need of the session on the theme and to observe the World Environmental Health Day. She stressed upon the role of criminology in reducing the environmental crimes. An emerging trend in the rising waste management problems, Air pollution, Global warming and Food security has to be taken care of. Each individual has the responsibility to restore eco-system and to develop egocentrism in order to protect our environment she said.

 

 

 

 

 

Dr. Jenis Mary, Vice-Principal of the college, Prof. Evelyn Benis, Secretary of the Institution, Prof. Cecelia Goveas, IQAC Coordinator, Dr. Saritha D’Souza, Director CES and Head of the Post Graduate Department of Criminology and Forensic Science of the college, Mr. Roshan D’Souza, Assistant Professor of the Department and Coordinator of the webinar were present on this occasion. Faculties and students of both Undergraduate and Post Graduate Department of various universities, Autonomous colleges across the country, and of the organizing college, Alumni’s of the department, representatives from the field and allied areas were present during the discussion. A total of 271 participants had registered and attended the webinar.

Student representative of the department, Ms. Supriya P Gowda delivered the vote of thanks, Ms. Chandana welcomed the gathering and Mr. Anil Shenoy K. compered the event.
