Annual Home Coming Day 2015
The Annual Home coming for at School of Social Work, Roshni Nilaya was held on September 20, 2015. The college premise was lively with the chattering of various age groups of Alumni. Their Alma matter had not changed much and they were happy to go down memory lane that day.
The day’s events began with the formal programme during which Ms.Asha Lobo, Secretary of Alumni Association read the annual report of activities and urged more people to join the Association. The President Ms. Poonam M.R. welcomed the gathering. The Treasurer Ms. Mable presented the statement of accounts.
The Chief Guest of the day was the Mayor of Mangalore City Corporation, Ms. Jacintha Alfred, who addressed the gathering reliving her student days at Roshni Nilaya. She spoke of how the course is increased her confidence and helped her to take up the Post of Mayor with responsibility.Dr. Sophia N. Fernandes, Principal, School of Social Work, Roshni Nilaya, presided over the programme.
We also enjoyed the presence of Dr.Olinda Pereira who was the first Principal of School of Social Work, Roshni Nilaya. She had just celebrated her 90 years birthday and amazed us with her mental readiness of her physical well-being. The Alumni Association felicitated her on their occasion by cutting a cake.
We released the newsletter for the years 2015. Our B.S.W, M.S.W & M.Sc. students kept us entertained with their lively dances with colourful costumes.
The games were ably conducted by Shri. Jeevan Vas. All of us who participated had a wonderful time and felt like college kids with all the good humoured teasing and laughing going on.
A big thanks to everyone who worked hard for this day. A new committee for the year 2015-16 was formed and announced to have its first meeting on September 25, 2015.
Ms. Ratna Pinto kept the group cheerful throughout the programme with her master of ceremony. Ms. Olivia Pereira gave a vote of thanks.
The day ended with the lunch served at the premises.
