The students of II MSW – PM & IR, along with the faculty members Dr. Sebastin K.V. and Asst. Prof. Asha Lobo visited Badische Anilin Und Soda Fabrik (BASF) India Ltd., Katipalla, Mangaluru. Mr. Santhosh Pai, Asst. HR Manager, welcomed the group and presented a brief introduction of the 150-year-old establishment, which is the world’s leading chemical company. He briefed the students about the organization’s principles, values; he provided a brief understanding about their manufacturing plants, as well as the various activities and projects undertaken by BASF.

Mr. C.M. Nataraj, General Manager – HR, IR & Administration, deliberated, with classic examples, on the Personnel and Administrative functions in brief, viz. Recruitment, Training and Development, Optimum Utilization of Manpower, Statutory Compliance, Legal Matters, Wage Negotiation & Wage Settlement, Wages and Salary Administration, Public Relations and Community Welfare. He discussed in great detail about disciplinary matters along with the applicability of various labour laws and acts; he also described the Performance Management Steps followed at BASF.
The group of HR Trainees received a gainful insight on several aspects such as the need for employee training and development, work safety, employee wellness and the responsibility of the company towards the society and the environment. The trainees thoroughly enjoyed this enriching and fruitful experience.
