FORENSIC SCIENCE EXHIBITION 2017 AND REMEDY FOR SUICIDAL TENDENCY AMONG YOUTH

The Department of Criminology and Forensic Science had organized “Forensic Science Exhibition 2017” and a guest lecture on ‘‘Remedy for Suicidal Tendency among Youth’’ at 3.15 p.m. in the College Auditorium, observing World Suicide Prevention Day (WSPD - 10th September) on 30th August 2017. Mrs. Saritha D’Souza, Head of the department and Co-ordinator of the programme gave a brief introduction about the programme.
 
Sri. C. H. Sudheer Kumar Reddy, IPS., Superintendent of Police, D.K District had inaugurated the ‘Forensic Science Exhibition 2017’ at 3 p.m. In a formal programme, he released a book titled ‘Unnatural Death Cases in Belthangady Taluk’ a preliminary report of project taken up by the department. While addressing the gathering he stressed on the need for new methods to aid in the detection of crime. He suggested to carry out further studies which can be practically implemented for the prevention of suicide. Sri. Gyanendra Gangawar, IAS Probationer also addressed the gathering.

Dr. Rameela Shekar, Counsellor & Dean, PG Department of the college was the Resource Person. She shared her experiences from her cases and gave the students tips on how to notice suicidal thoughts and stressed on the essential requirement of concretely listening to these individuals. Dr. Laxminarayana Bhat. P, Registrar (Evaluation) of the college had presided over the programme. Prof. Madav B. M., DrAshoka B., faculties and students were present on this occasion.

 

 

INTERACTION PROGRAMME ON ‘FORENSIC SCIENCE IN CRIME INVESTIGATION’

The Post-Graduate Department of Criminology and Forensic Science, School of Social Work, Roshni Nilaya, Mangaluru in collaboration with Forensic Medicine and Toxicology, Yenepoya University, Deralakatte had organised an interaction programme on ‘Forensic Science in Crime Investigation’ with students of Post Graduate Diploma in Forensic Anthropology, Yenepoya University, Deralakatte on 31st August 2017. Dr. Ashoka B. Professor of Criminology & Forensic Science was the resource person. While interacting with the students he stressed on the need for carrying out proper investigation which will not only help in the trial proceeding thereby ensuring better justice to the litigants but will also help in safeguarding human rights at large. He also mentioned the need for public involvement in law enforcing procedures in today’s society. The session was followed by their visit to the ‘Forensic Science Exhibition 2017’. The students of PG Department of Criminology & Forensic science engaged the students by explaining and demonstrating various sections displayed therein.
