Duration of the Programme

The normal duration of the Bachelor Degree Programme leading to B.A., degree shall be SIX semesters (three academic years) of 16 weeks each. Each semester shall consist of SIXTEEN weeks of study excluding end-semester theory/practical examinations and evaluation. Each semester shall provide for at least 90 teaching days. The ODD SEMESTER shall normally be from mid-June to mid-October and the EVEN SEMESTER shall normally be from the third-week of November to the first-week of April. The Academic Calendar for the following semester with its clearly spelt out schedules for various activities shall be announced at least TWO weeks prior to the closing date of the previous semester.

Eligibility for Admission:

A candidate who has passed the two years Pre-University Examination conducted by the Pre-University Education Board in the State of Karnataka or any other examination considered as equivalent thereto by the affiliating Parent University , that is, Mangalore University is eligible for admission to these programmes.

Special Admissions

A limited number of admissions is offered to Foreign Nationals and Indians living abroad, either on a full-time basis, or on Student Exchange Programmes as per the corresponding MoU approved by the Competent Authority, and/or in accordance with the Government or any other rules then prevailing and applicable to such admissions

Subjects of Study shall comprise the following:

Group – I: LANGUAGES

General and Communicative English are compulsory subjects and any one of the following

  1. Kannada
  2. Hindi
  3. French
  4. Additional English – Foreign, NRI, Anglo-Indian and other Indian students whose mother tongue is other than Kannada, Hindi, Konkani, Malayalam, Telugu, Tamil, Marathi and Urdu can opt for Additional English.

 

Group – II: OPTIONAL SUBJECTS COMBINATIONS
 
       1. Sociology Secretarial Practice Economics
       2. Psychology Computer Applications English (Opt)
       3. Psychology Criminology English (Opt)
       4. Psychology Criminology Rural Development
Note: The College has a right to change the above combination/s of subject/s in any manner thought fit.
Group – III FOUNDATION COURSES:
  1. Foundation Courses for first and second semesters
  2. General Studies for third semester
  3. Interdisciplinary Subject for fourth semester
