HUMAN RESOURCE MANAGEMENT FORUM
Labour Welfare had been a major focus of Social Work. In India Social Work education and practice have specifically addressed the issues of laborers and their working conditions. In the increasingly complex global environment, competency, knowledge and skills in Human Resource Development and Management are found to be the need of the time. Specialization in Personnel Management and Industrial Relations has emerged as a significant area of Social Work intervention in the initial stages of Social Work education in India and still continues to be of significance in the industrial world.
Human Resource Management Forum was formed with the objective of training students specializing in Personnel Management and Industrial Relations to meet the demands of the fast growing corporate sector. The forum was started as Labour Management Forum. It was an opportunity given to students to decide on the additional inputs required to fill the academic gap arising from class room teaching and organize appropriate programmes to fill the same. The forum activities provide ample opportunities to the students to develop relevant skills and qualities such as:
- Skills which enable persons to have effective interactions with others such as human relations skills, communication skills, interpersonal skills and public relations skills
- Skills which enable persons to manage certain problems or situations that emerge in human relations such as conflict management, logical thinking and creativity.
Some of the activities of the forum are as follows:
- Annual State Level HR Seminar
- Annual IR Seminar
- Sparsh – Corporate Social Responsibility Cell
- Interaction with alumni
- Seminars and workshops
- Exposure visits
The Forum is thus committed to preparing persons with human qualities focusing on knowledge dissemination through industry interfacing, co-curricular and extra-curricular activities.
